To children, the school nurse is the angel who tends to their scraped knees, upset stomachs, headaches, and other minor maladies associated with the school day and playground mishaps. But school nurses do so much more. They conduct health screenings, manage medical emergencies, monitor medications for children with chronic conditions, and teach health class -- just to name a few responsibilities.
Whether your child has a condition that must be managed by the school nurse, or if they just see the nurse for the occasional "I don't feel good" visit, it is important to develop a good working relationship with this very important member of the school. from the Children's Hospital of Philadelphia e-newsletter
